How it Feels on the Court

Defense

The low balance is the reason this frame defends better than its weight suggests. With the mass sitting back toward the hand, a block against a hard drive does not need a full swing to travel, and a lob taken slightly late still clears the net with something on it. The 531 cm² face is generous by the standards of the line, so a ball reached at full stretch usually comes back in play. What remains demanding is depth: the soft inner layer of the core takes the sting out of the strike, so a defensive lob has to be driven rather than steered if it is to reach the back of the court.

Net Play

This is the part of the game the racket is built around. The frame stays composed on firm contact and the face does not move on the ball, which is what makes a sequence of volleys feel like one continuous action rather than a series of separate saves. The low balance lets a player get the head round for the second and third ball of an exchange, which is where a heavier diamond frame starts to fall behind.

Advice

Weight has to be added by the player rather than harvested from the racket, so a volley meant to end the point wants a step forward into it.
