Edgewood Country Club

Chartered in 1898 and set in Charleston's historic Edgewood neighbourhood, this is West Virginia's oldest club — member-owned, minutes from downtown, and built around families and lifelong friendships across generations. The racquets programme runs year-round on Har-Tru tennis courts, indoor squash courts and what the club describes as the only padel court in West Virginia. Racquets professional Ryan Pulliam handles private lessons, clinics and seasonal leagues, with a full-service pro shop beside the courts. Two clubhouses, a George Cobb golf course, a swim complex, a fitness centre with steam rooms and saunas and several dining rooms round out the grounds.
