Egypt's Youssef Hossam and Georges Wakim pulled off the biggest upset so far at padel's debut in the Mediterranean Games, beating Spain's top-seeded pair Pol Hernandez and Guille Collado 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in Taranto. The Egyptians saved a match point while trailing 5-4 in the deciding set before closing out the win
"An incredible victory for us and for our country. We see these champions on TV every day, and beating them was something unique," Wakim said after the match. Egypt now faces Italy's Marco Cassetta and Simone Iacovino in the quarter-finals
