The London Premier Padel P1 at Olympia has secured a long-term future in the British sporting calendar. The venue is signed up to host the tournament for the next five years, with the option of a further five, according to The Padel Paper, which covered the event's opening days.
The tour's first-ever United Kingdom stop also attracted late broadcast interest. Rights deals were agreed with TNT Sports and HBO Max shortly before play began, adding to the tournament's existing distribution through Red Bull TV and YouTube. Reporters from the Daily Express, The Athletic and the BBC attended the opening press conferences.
Ticket sales built through the week. Day one on 4 August was not a sell-out, despite a schedule filled with British wild cards, but every ticket from the quarter-finals onwards has been sold. Olympia's centre court holds 4,000 spectators, against the 17,000 who watched Premier Padel in Buenos Aires.
"This is what we've all been waiting for," said Tom Murray, head of padel at the LTA. "It's an annual moment on the international calendar which is what we've all needed." Next year's edition is again scheduled for August, though the LTA wants to move the event outside the school holidays from 2028.
