Asunción is hosting the South American qualifiers for the FIP World Cup 2026 from August 20 to 22, with men's and women's squads from Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela joined by Chile's women's team in the fight for three spots in Doha this November — one on the men's side, two on the women's, decided through a single round robin group in each category
Argentina, Spain, Brazil and the United States are among the teams already through, part of a men's field of 12 and a women's field of 11 that have already secured their place. Two qualifying events remain before the field is complete: a European round in Madrid from September 22 to 26, handing out two spots per category, and a joint Africa-Asia qualifier for the final two places. The World Cup runs November 2 to 7 in Doha, Qatar, with 32 teams — 16 men's and 16 women's — set to compete
