A shopping centre in Wiltshire is swapping supermarket aisles for padel courts. Padel Chippenham is opening a new venue inside the former Tesco unit at Emery Gate this September, with four indoor courts plus an interactive Multiball sports wall, alongside changing rooms, refreshments and equipment hire and sales
Multiball itself is a wall-mounted system that turns a blank wall into a game: high-speed tracking technology registers every shot in real time, feeding into a library of more than 45 apps that range from arcade-style games to structured training drills. It's already made appearances at Wimbledon, inside Asics' flagship store in Barcelona, and across more than 20 Rebel Sport locations in Australia
A Padel Chippenham spokesperson said the venue is excited to bring MultiBall to Emery Gate, with padel at the centre of the offering alongside space for visitors of all ages to enjoy active entertainment in a fun, accessible way. Caroline Wall, Project Manager at Acorn Property Group, said the addition of MultiBall alongside the padel courts brings something different to Chippenham town centre, giving people a new reason to visit Emery Gate and helping keep it active and relevant for the local community
